You may know that a lot of health-care providers are telling their patients,
(clients) to swap out the unhealthy sugar for honey.

Well, if you’re one who uses honey to sweeten your morning beverage
or a bowl of oatmeal with honey, then you may be interested in some
other things honey can do to improve your life.

The other things honey can do are listed below…

1) Fresh Flowers-
If you receive flowers or plan on giving someone fresh flowers, keep
them looking fresh for a little longer. To keep the flowers looking fresh-
add 1 Tbs. each of honey and vinegar to the vase each time you change
the water. Honey’s sugar provides nourishment while vinegar’s acids kills
any bacteria that causes wilting.

2) Stomach Rx For Your Dog-
If you feed your dog too many home-cooked meals and now he’s (or she) is suffering
with gas and sluggishness. To help your dog overcome both problems, pour a –
little honey on a spoon and feed it to your dog. Honey is packed with digestion-
aiding enzymes that will heal his (or her) upset stomach, which should help him
feel better in 30 minutes or less.

3) Spicy Salsa-
The salsa you made is too spicy (hot) and you want to throw it out.
The way to save the salsa is to stir a spoonful of honey into the salsa
along with a tsp. (or two) of lime juice. The combination of sugar
and citric acid will help cut down on the pepper’s heat.

4) Sleep Deeply-
Some have trouble sleeping in the colder months and then there
are some of you that have trouble sleeping in the months of June,
July and August. And if the heat keeps you up, just use the one spoonful
of honey tip an hour (or 30 mins.) before going to bed. Honey is loaded
with sleep-inducing tryptophan, which will help you get the necessary
6 to 8 hours of sleep.

5) Cheap Hair-Care-
Oh no, the heat from the summer Sun has left your hair looking lackluster,
what do you do? Head to the pantry and grab the honey and then grab
some plain yogurt. Mix 2 Tbs. of honey with 1/2 cup of plain yogurt and massage
into your wet hair. Leave on for 10 minutes and then rinse out with warm water.
Honey’s humectant properties will add shine while yogurt’s proteins nourish
your tresses.

6) Stop Itching-
After spending time outdoors you now notice a lot of red marks
and itchiness all over your arms and legs. If mosquitos are the cause
use something natural to quell the itching and swelling.
In other words, use some honey on the bite marks. Apply the honey, leave
on for a few minutes and then wash off. Honey is an anti-inflammatory
and applying it topically will soothe irritated skin and reduce your urge to
scratch.

7) Pesky Bugs-
As the weather heats up ants will look for new places to invade
and unfortunately, that means inside your home. To keep the pesky
invaders out, just grab some honey and borax powder. Mix 1 Tbs. of
honey and 2 tsp. of borax and place on small pieces of cardboard and put
them in areas of the house where you’ve spotted them. Honey attracts the ants,
so they’ll carry it-and the borax, (which is toxic to them) to their nests.
Important tip:
Make sure to keep this mixture hidden, so kids and pets can’t get to it.

8) Dry Nails-
Want to save money and save your cuticles? If the expense of the nail salon
is getting to you, just use this at-home Rx. The at home remedy:
In a small bowl, combine 1 tsp. of honey, 1 tsp. of aloe vera and 1 Tbs. of
olive oil. Stir well, then massage onto your cuticles and under your fingernails.
Leave it alone for 4 to 5 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. The honey
helps soften rough skin and cuticles, the aloe vera reduces inflammation
and the olive oil moisturizes.

That’s it, 8 great tips to help this summer go smoothly using the sweet
treat aka Honey.
