If you’re one of the millions who’s trying to eat healthy, there is some news you
might not want to hear.

The news:
Some foods you think are healthy and good for your gut, may not be
and if you’re eating them on a regular basis, you may be experiencing
upset stomachs, bloating and weight gain.
So, if you’re concerned about your health and are eating these four foods,
look below and find some better options.

Food No. 1-
Ice Cream. Nondairy Ice cream to be exact. Without milk fat to hold ingredients
together, brands use additives like locust bean gum, xanthan gum or gellan gum.
The better option: Whole Fruit Strawberry Sorbet, find this treat at H-E-B stores.
Or look for it online.

Food No. 2-
Plant-Based Meat. Non meat meat is a billion dollar business today and if you’ve
sworn off meats make sure to steer clear of brands containing the filler cellulose
gum (or methycellulose), which can harm the gut and have a laxative effect.
The better option: Hilary’s Organic World’s Best Veggie Burgers.

Food No. 3-
Yogurt. You love a bowl of yogurt and fruit, but if you’re choosing the wrong type of
yogurt it isn’t loving you back, especially your gut. Clean brands contain only milk and
live, active cultures. Avoid the ones that are loaded with fake sugars, like maltodextrin,
and thickeners, including soy lecithin.
The better option: Fage Total 0% Greek Yogurt, available at most grocery stores.

Food No. 4-
Almond Milk. You’ve given up dairy in the hopes that your health will improve,
so avoid dairy-free milks containing carragenan. Also look for gums and
fructose on the labels.
The better option: Malk Organic Almond milk.

There you have it, 4 foods you thought were healthy and “gut-friendly”
but aren’t that good for you.
