It’s a new year and if your resolution is improving your health, you may want to
incorporate more smoothies (and juices) into your diet.

Smoothies become quite popular this time of year, mainly because of the convenience
and ease of cutting and pouring a few fruits and vegetables into a juicer or blender,
and if you’re doing the juices or smoothies just for weight loss, then you may want to
add a popular fruit to your smoothie to benefit your brain as well.

Your brain?
Yes, new research says that eating more strawberries, (as a stand-alone snack)
or in a smoothie can greatly reduce your odds of getting Alzheimer’s.

That’s right, blueberries were always the top fruit when it came to brain health,
but a new discovery has found that strawberries also offer the same brain benefits.

Strawberries have fewer tau protein tangles, which have come to the forefront
as a key marker of Alzheimer’s disease. Plus, pelargonidin, a compound in
strawberries, reduces brain inflammation to prevent these tangles from ever forming.

So, if you plan on making more smoothies, healthy juices or eating more fruit
salad, make sure you have a few strawberries in each, which will keep your brain
healthy well into your 70’s, 80’s and beyond.

That’s it, for today. Here’s to a new year and more smoothies (or fruit bowls) in
your future.
Good Luck!
