Drink More Tea!

If you’ve only been drinking black or green tea,
that’s okay. Both offer a host of healthful benefits,
but you may want to broaden your horizons and
start adding some of the teas listed below to
this week’s grocery list.

The teas listed below may taste different than what
you’re used to, but just remember, they’ll also
benefit your health in a number of ways.

The Teas:
a) Lemon Balm-
Are you more fatigued due to the harsh conditions
of this Winter season?
Well, overcome it with a cup or two of lemon balm tea.
This citrusy tea is a cousin to mint tea and it
boosts your energy, lowers anxiety and
reduces stress levels.
Plus, new research says it can even help you perform
better on memory tests.
b) Ginger Tea-
This incredible spice does more than help you settle
a queasy stomach, it’ll help you burn about 200 more
calories a day. Ginger is a diuretic that releases trapped
fat and fluids, and it also relieves swelling, bloating
and water retention.
And one last benefit:
If you need to freshen your breath and you’re out
of breath mints, just cut a small piece of ginger and
let it linger (do not swallow) in your mouth for
a minute or two. Aim for 2 to 3 cups a day.
c) Rooibos Tea-
The tea of Charlize Theron. Well, we’re not sure if Ms.
Theron actually drinks this tea, but it does come from her
homeland- South Africa.
If your skin is peeling and drying out due to the conditions
of this Winter, drink Rooibos tea. It contains
anti-inflammatory antioxidants that calms the
redness and roughness. A cup or two a day
can repair and beautify your complexion as effectively
as any expensive skin cream on the market today.
And one last benefit:
It may help preserve your brain, which means your odds of
suffering from age-related memory loss is greatly reduced.
d) Tulsi Tea-
You may not have ever heard of this tea, but in India they’re
well aware of it and they call it “holy basil.”
If the Winter conditions are causing you be feel more
sad and blue, then you need to start drinking more
holy basil.
Compounds in this mint-like tea increase the production
of “feel-good” hormones in the brain, much in the way
antidepressants do- but this tea works faster, is cheaper
and has no known negative side effects.
Plus, it also works like lemon balm, as it’ll help you
feel more calm.
e) Rose Hip Tea-
CoVid-19 has taken over all aspects of the news cycle
and a lot of us are forgetting that it’s still cold and
flu season. If you’re lucky and still haven’t come down with
a cold or the flu and want to keep it that way, drink some
rose hip tea. And if you are sick, and want to recover
faster, drink some rose hip tea.
This slightly fruity tasting tea has 5 times more healing
vitamin C than an orange, which helps strengthen your
defenses against colds and the flu.
Plus, it triples the number of T-cells in your immune
system.
One more benefit:
The extra vitamin C in this tea will help keep your
complexion youthful and rosy.

Look for the teas at large supermarkets, health-food
stores or online at Amazon.com.
