Middle-age spread happens to a lot of people once they reach their 40’s and 50’s
and if it’s something you’re dealing with, here are some proven tricks to help
you beat your protruding stomach.

The Tips:
1) Eat Fruit-
Chalk up another win for fruit. Not only is it tasty, it can also help you pare down
that midsection. Mixed berries to be exact, are rich in nutrients that fuel friendly
bacteria in your gut. That’s key because healthy gut bacteria diminish as we age,
so adding a bowl (or two) of mixed berries to your daily regimen can restore
balance in your gut, which will reduce bloating and weight gain especially
in the midsection.
Important tip:
Add some fresh or frozen mixed berries to a bowl of oatmeal, to a smoothie
or toss them over some plain yogurt.

2) Eat Fat-
As in avocados. You need essential fatty acids as you age and one of the best
and healthiest ways to get more fat into your system is to add some avocados
to your daily menus. Fatty acids make your body more efficient at burning stored
fat, particularly around the midsection. Another plus, eating some good fats
each day helps boost metabolism by 25%.

3) Get Some Probiotics-
Probiotics have been in the news for about a decade. Researchers have been
preaching about the benefits especially concerning gut help and if you want
something other than expensive supplements, then you’re best bet is to eat
more top quality yogurt. Probiotics boost gut health, helping prevent the
bloating that occurs as most people age.
Important tips:
Go to Google.com and type -best probiotic yogurts in the search bar.
Another tip-to make your plain yogurt even more effective, add some
cinnamon to it. The compound that gives cinnamon its flavor,
cinnamaldehyde, helps reduce that belly bulge.
Or something even more effective: Spoon a few Tbs. of plain
Greek yogurt into a bowl, add some mixed berries and finish
up by sprinkling a little cinnamon on top. Stir well and enjoy.

4) Enjoy Some Butter-
No, not dairy butter. Apple butter. It’s rich in pectin, a unique
type of fiber shown to target abdominal fat and slow digestion.
That means you’ll feel full longer and eat fewer calories during the
day. Find apple butter at Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods or go online
to YouTube and type recipe for apple butter and make your own.

5) Drink Up-
Drink some apple cider vinegar. You may be doing this already,
but if you’re not, you may want to start. Add 2 tsps. to a half glass
of water and drink it down. Acetic acid, the main component of
A.C.V., helps flush out stomach-bulging toxins from your liver
and speeds up the rate at which your metabolism burns carbs-
both of which jumpstart the fat-burn of visceral fat. And doing a
quick shot in the morning, when your metabolism is highest for
the day, doubles the benefit.

6) A Cup Of Joe-
Not your regular cup of black coffee, but green coffee. It’s made from
beans that haven’t been roasted, which allows them to retain high levels
of chlorogenic acid, a natural chemical that helps you shed those
pesky tummy pounds. Plus, green coffee has caffeine and that too, is
another asset when it comes to losing belly fat. You can find green
coffee online. Go to NaturesHappiness.com and look for the brand
called Navitas Naturals Green Coffee. Mix the coffee in a cup of
hot water or use it like a protein powder and add it to smoothies or
a bowl of oatmeal or millet.

7) An Herbal Rx-
If you’re into herbs and want something that’ll really flush out the
fat, try the herb-Milk Thistle. It (M.T.) extract supports and detoxifies
your liver cells, which are important because they help flush out excess
fat. Also important: This herb may be really helpful to women after menopause,
as the liver’s ability to flush out fat is really difficult for a lot of women at
this time in their lives.
Important tip:
Before taking any type of supplement, it’s best you check with your health-care
provider first. Look for milk thistle at health-food stores or online in pill, powder,
tincture, extract or tea. Or go to VitaminShoppe.com and look for Vitamin
Shoppe Milk Thistle Extract, 100 capsules for $15.99 to $19.99.
Dosage to take: 160Mg. to 800Mg.
