Are you thinking of going under the knife?
Planning on getting your skin plumped or dermabrased?

Wait, hold onto your money and avoid the
scalpel, chemical peels and other procedures and
get that smooth and wrinkle-free complexion by visiting
your local grocery store.

That’s right- the grocery store, or more specifically- the
food from the grocery store can help you maintain
the collagen in your skin and speed up cell function
to reveal a youthful, glowing complexion.

Food affects skin at a cellular level, so make sure to choose
the foods that prevent the sagging, wrinkling and discoloring.
Not sure what types of foods to eat and drink?
Just look below and get started on a new and improved younger-
looking you.

a) Go Nuts-
Brazil nuts and walnuts are especially high in omega-3 fatty acids,
which improve the skin’s appearance.
Plus, omega 3’s strengthen muscles, and strong facial muscles
keep skin taut and firm.
Important tip:
Nuts are a good fat, but make sure you eat them in moderation.
And the Brazil nuts, eat only 2 or 3 day. Any more and you risk
getting too much selenium.
b) Go Fish-
Like the nuts, fatty fish contains omega-3’s fatty acids,
so make sure to eat it 2 to 3 times a week.
What types of fish?
Wild caught trout, salmon, tuna, mackerel, halibut and sardines.
Another tip: make sure to bake, broil or poach fish, frying it
in a vat of oil (on a regular basis) raises your risk of stroke.
c) Green Veggies-
Another benefit of getting more greens into your system:
younger skin.
Greens contain alkaline minerals, like potassium and calcium,
and skin looks and functions best when your cells, tissues,
and fluids are slightly alkaline.
A Rx for you: eat plenty of spinach, kale, Swiss chard, romaine
lettuce, collards and broccoli.
d) Citrus-
For all of you orange, tangerine, clementine, lemon
and grapefruit lovers out there, these fruits provide
you with ample amounts of vitamin C.
An vitamin C, is an antioxidant that increases the production
of skin-firming collagen and protects against wrinkles.
Important tip:
You may be tempted to take vitamin C supplements,
but the fruits provide you with more antioxidants, so it’s
best to eat (and drink) your vitamin C.
e) Fruit-
You may love mangoes, watermelon and ripe bananas,
but they may not love your skin. These foods are high in
sugar and that may cause a spike in blood sugar levels-
causing skin to age prematurely.
So, do you give up all fruit?
No, choose low-glycemic fruits like berries, (all berries)
apricots, green apples and eat the fruits high in sugar
once a week or once every two weeks.
Another tip: Doctors recommend 5 to 9 servings of produce a day,
so you may want to juice a few fruits and green veggies together to
get the recommended 5 to 9 servings.
f) Eat Fat-
No, that’s not a misprint, the mistake too many women (and some
men) make is restricting or totally avoiding all types of fat.
We’re not talking about the fat from French fries or a fatty steak,
but fat from real butter, olives, tallow, natural peanut butter
and avocados.
These types of foods keep wrinkles at bay and skin plump.
Also important: a little goes a long way, so make sure to eat small
amounts of these fats.
And one last tip:
If you’re suffering from psoriasis or eczema, eat a few olives each day.
Olives are rich in monounsaturated fats- which quells the inflammation,
causing the skin eruptions.
g) The Orange Foods-
Are you a fan of pumpkin, sweet potatoes, butternut and
acorn squash and apricots?
A women in her 40’s was often mistaken for a woman 15 to 20
years younger than her actual age, her secret: Orange foods.
These foods contain tons of beauty-enhancing beta-carotene,
A fat soluble pigment that is converted to vitamin A in the
body, then used to keep skin plump and smooth.
A tip for a face mask:
In addition to eating more orange foods, you can also
wear them. Make a mask using some cooked sweet potato
(cooled) add a Tbs. of plain yogurt and a bit of honey.
Mix well, apply to your face, lie back, relax and leave on for
10 to 15 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

Drink Your Way To Younger Skin.
Yes, you have to feed your skin with food, but you also
have to keep the skin hydrated. Here are a list of beverages
that beautify skin.
a) Tea-
More specifically-green tea.
Green tea works on your skin in two ways:
Two to three cups a day prevent skin damage (from
pollutants and toxins) and reduces the risk of skin cancer.
(from the Sun’s harmful rays)
b) Wine-
Pinot Noir. This red wine contains the highest amounts
of antioxidants, (called resveratrol) more than any other wine
out there. Resveratrol protects against wrinkles and sun-spots.
c) Water and Lemon Juice-
Remember the earlier tip about citrus?
Well, in addition to eating foods rich in vitamin C, you can also
drink your vitamin C. Have a glass in the morning, (30 to 60
minutes before eating) and a glass at night.
