The healthy alternative to Statins.

What’s your usual lunch meal?
Is it a burger and fries from McDonalds?
Or do you prefer 2 tacos from Taco Bell?
Or are you a brown bagger?
You know, a peanut and jelly sandwich, some potato chips,
a candy bar and a can of soda (or juice).

Well, if your cholesterol levels are high, you may want to
switch to the lunch meal that Jennifer Aniston (of Friends fame)
ate every day while doing the hit show.
The Lunch: A Salad.

That’s right, eating a salad for lunch or dinner with certain
foods can help lower cholesterol levels.
The foods that’ll lower your cholesterol levels…
a) Chickpeas-
Full of fiber, a type of fiber that helps fight “bad” cholesterol.

b) Arugula-
This green has 8 times as much calcium as Iceberg lettuce–
and that’s important as it (calcium) interferes with the body’s
absorption of cholesterol.

c) Red Onion and Garlic-
Both contain sulfides, natural compounds that lower levels of “bad”
cholesterol.

d) Red Peppers-
Great sources of folic acid and vitamin B6, which help control homocysteine,
a substance that, like cholesterol, raises the risk of heart attack.

e) Olives-
Black or green olives deliver nutrients that stop cholesterol from oxidizing
and building in arteries.

f) A Salad Recipe To Lower Cholesterol-
Mediterranean Chickpea Salad!
To make:
Get a big bowl and…
Toss 1 can of chickpeas (drained and rinsed) with 4 cups of
arugula, 1 cup of cooked brown rice pasta (cooled), 1 small
red onion (thinly sliced), 1/4 cup of drained chopped roasted red
peppers, 1/2 cup of pitted black olives (halved), 1 rib of celery (sliced)
and 1 clove of garlic (minced). Drizzle with your favorite dressing or use
Newman’s Own, (sun-dried tomato salad dressing) gently toss and serve.
Enough for 4 servings. Calories per serving: 250.
