Now that summer is here, you’re probably enjoying more fruit. Watermelon,
cherries, peaches and plums. But are you eating combo fruits or hybrid fruits?

When one thinks of hybrids, what usually comes to mind?
Cars.
As in electric and gas cars.

Well, broaden your horizons and think of food hybrids.
Food hybrids?
Yes, as in fruit hybrids.

Today, a number of scientists, food researchers and nutritionists
are combining fruits in the hopes that they (the fruits) will deliver
more vitamins and nutrients to you.

And if you have access to hybrid fruits, take advantage.
Listed below, are 4 fruit combos and their health benefits.

a) Pluots-
A combination of apricots and plums.
This combo boasts a distinct sweet-tart flavor that makes it
stand out. And the benefits you’ll get from this combo:
Thwart mindless snacking, especially for fattening foods.
Plus, you’ll satisfy your sweet tooth-without derailing your healthy
eating plan. Both fruits are full of fiber, which aids in digestion and
promotes a feeling of fullness., making them an ideal snack for anyone
looking to maintain a healthy weight.
Look for other fruit combos like Plucots (a combination of plums
and apricots) and Nectaplums-(a combination of nectarines and plums).
Look for them online or go to a Farmer’s market or whole foods store.

b) Peacharines-
Concerned about aging skin? Eat a combination of nectarines and peaches.
Peacharines taste similar to peaches with the firmness of nectarines.
And thanks to their high water content, vitamin C, carotenoids, beta-carotene,
alpha hydroxy acids, copper and niacin, your skin will certainly benefit.
These vitamins and minerals help build collagen, protect against harmful
UV rays and firm up lax skin.

c) Tayberries-
If you guessed raspberries and blackberries, give yourself a pat on the back.
Both berries pack a big nutritional punch: as in Vitamin C and bioflavonoids,
so they bolster immunity and skin health, improve the cardiovascular system
and lower inflammation in your body. Plus, both fruits are rich in fiber and folate,
which has been shown to slow sugar absorption to keep blood sugar under control.

d) Limequats-
These are a combination of limes and kumquats. These were hybridized in the early
1900’s and they’re high in potassium, a mineral that lowers blood pressure by
counteracting the blood-pressure-raising effects of sodium. Another benefit of
potassium: It calms the entire central nervous system to prevent blood pressure
surges when life gets hectic. What’s more, this fruit combo contains vitamins A
and C, plus calcium and fiber–more heart heart protecting nutrients.

e) Orangerines-
Yes, tangerines and oranges and if you think they’re so similar, you’re right,
but they also offer different benefits. The benefits are to your immune system,
oranges have much more vitamin C, and it (C) has been shown to help keep
your immune system in tip-top shape, thanks to its ability to stimulate white blood
cells. And the tangerines, they’re rich in hesperidin, a phytonutrient that speeds and
strengthens immune cell reaction.

That’s it, 5 hybrid fruits to help improve your health and looks.
