The Dinner Rx For Sound Sleep!
It’s been a difficult 18 months for a lot of people, and one
of the things that has affected a lot of you, is sleep.
Or a lack of it.
There’s a reason why medical professionals prescribe 6 to
8 hours each night, the reasons: You lower your risk of
heart disease, strokes, certain cancers, diabetes and even
obesity by sleeping through the night.
Well, if you want to sleep through the night, but aren’t
sure how to go about it, try some of the
non-medicinal and dietary remedies listed below.
The non-medicinal medicines:
a) Prayer-
Researchers say praying for friends, families or complete
strangers well-being, cuts your risk of insomnia by a whopping
70%. Prayer calms the emotional control center of the brain,
plus it prods the release of the soothing, mood-steadying hormone
oxytocin.
b) Turn Off The-
The televisions and other electronic gadgets. These devices emit
blue light, and this type of light restrains the production of melatonin,
(the sleep hormone) and if you’re not getting enough of this
hormone, then sleeping a good 6 to 8 hours straight is almost
impossible. Rectify this by turning off all electronic devices
30 to 40 minutes before turning in.
And now on to the food and beverage Rxs.
c) Drink tea-
Doctors have discovered that the little known
tea- Floral, is quite effective for those who toss and
turn throughout the night.
This herbal tea is rich in harmaline, a compound that allows
you to sleep soundly through the night.
Consider floral tea a natural tranquilizer, that’s just as effective
and less dangerous than a prescribed medication.
Look for floral tea online at Amazon.com or Thrive.com
or to any health-food store.
d) Eat Steak-
When one thinks of sound sleep, steak doesn’t seem to be
the top food choice, but it’s not just the steak, it’s
the add-ins that are the real stars.
And those add-ins: Peppers, as in Pepper-Steak.
Peppers are high in vitamin C, which calm your adrenal glands,
stopping them from releasing an early morning surge of the
stress hormone cortisol. Adding more vitamin C rich foods,
(citrus foods, yellow, green and red bell peppers)
to your diet will help you sleep deeper, longer and wake
up more energized.
So, if you’re a steak lover and want more quality sleep,
place the following items on this week’s grocery list and
use them to make the recipe down below.
