Lower triglycerides with grains.

Your doctor always wants you to lower blood pressure or
cholesterol, but is he or she asking you to lower triglycerides?

What are they?
Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipid) found in your blood and if they’re high-that
means you’re at an increased risk of heart disease and stroke, including obesity
and metabolic syndrome-a cluster of conditions that includes too much fat
around the waist, high blood pressure, high blood sugar and higher cholesterol
levels.

So, if your doctor is telling you to lower your triglycerides and offering you
a prescribed Rx, tell him or her you want to try the non-medicinal medical
route first and clean up your diet, get more exercise, get rid of the processed
foods and eat more of this ancient grain.

The ancient grain?
Quinoa.
This “ancient grain” is a nutritional powerhouse packed with protein, fiber,
vitamins and nutrients. Eating a plate of quinoa or a protein bar that includes
quinoa every day can lower your triglycerides by 55% in about a month-and these
results are on par with cholesterol-lowering drugs.
Quinoa is brimming with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, “good” fats that
lower triglycerides. Another plus: Quinoa is inexpensive, easy to cook and
cheaper and safer than doctor-prescribed meds.

And lastly, for those who aren’t fans of quinoa or get tired of it, just use the
fruit equivalent.
What is it?
Avocados.
That’s right, the hard-shelled fruit is also loaded with the same omega
fatty acids as quinoa, and are rich in “good” fats that help protect the heart.
Another tip:
Use avocado as a replacement for mayo on a sandwich or make some
chocolate Ice cream or pudding.
To make:
Peel an avocado, remove the seed and place the fruit in a blender,
add some cocoa powder, a Tbs. of maple syrup (or dark honey),
a ripe banana, and 1/4 cup of water or oat milk. Blend until smooth.
Spoon into a dish and eat it right away or place it in the refrigerator
for a few hours.

That’s it, a simple guide to lowering your triglycerides in less than 5 weeks.
