The Air-Frying Rxs For America’s Favorite Comfort Foods!
If frying, baking, broiling or steaming foods isn’t as appealing as it once was, then you
may want to try the new kitchen gadget that’s taking America by storm.
The Kitchen Gadget:
An Air-Fryer!
It (the Air-Fryer) allows you to cook in half of the time, and without the extra
calories.
So, if you have an air-fryer or plan on buying one, here are 3 recipes for
comfort food that are both healthy and delicious.
Recipe No. 1-
Mom’s Glazed Meatloaf!
Stir the sauce into the meat mixture to make this dish extra special.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs. of ground beef
2 eggs
1/2 cup of plain dry breadcrumbs
2/3 cup of sweet chili sauce
1 small onion, finely grated
1 Tbs. of Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. of cayenne pepper
To make:
Cut a 10″ square piece of parchment paper. Gently mix beef, eggs, breadcrumbs,
1/3 cup of chili sauce, onion, Worcestershire sauce and red pepper, on the
parchment paper, shape into a 9″X4″ loaf.
Heat air-fryer to bake at 300*F. Transfer meatloaf with the paper to air-fryer
basket. Cook until meat thermometer inserted into center registers 160*F,
55 mins. brushing with remaining chili sauce during the last 10 min. of baking.
Let the meatloaf rest for 15 mins. before cutting.

Recipe No. 2-
Cornflake-Coated Chicken!
Pass on the deep frying and start using your air-fryer to make crispy fried chicken.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup of buttermilk
1 tsp. of smoked paprika
1 tsp. of garlic powder
8 chicken drumsticks, about 3 lbs.
1 1/2 cups of crushed cornflakes
1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
To make:
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, paprika, garlic powder
and 1/4 tsp. of salt. Add drumsticks; toss until coated. Let it stand
for an hour in a separate bowl, mix cornflakes and flour.
Working with one piece of chicken at a time, coat the chicken with
the crumb mixture. Heat air fryer at 325*F. Coat air-fryer basket with
cooking spray (Pam). Place chicken in basket; coat chicken with cooking
spray. Place basket in air-fryer. Air-fry until golden and chicken is no
longer pink near the bone, about 25 to 30 mins.
Calories per 2 drumsticks- 275, Prot-44g. Carbs25g.
Recipe No. 3-
Sausage Stuffed Peppers!
No need to turn on the oven to make stuffed peppers, just get out
your air-fryer and make these lower calorie stuffed peppers instead.
Ingredients:
1 Tbs. of olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
4 ropes of Italian sausage, (casing removed) and slice into 1″ pieces
4 cups of cooked rice
2 cans of diced tomatoes with garlic, basil and oregano
1 large carrot, grated
1/3 cup of chopped fresh parsley
8 bell peppers, red, yellow and green
To make:
In a skillet, heat up the oil over medium heat. Add onion; cook, stirring,
until soft, about 6 to 7 mins. Add the sausage, and cook until no longer
pink, 10 mins. Transfer to a bowl. Stir in rice, tomatoes and the juices,
1 cup of cheese, carrot, and parsley.
Heat air-fryer for baking at 300*F. Trim the tops of the peppers off, scoop
out the seeds. Fill peppers with sausage mixture, top with cheese, then
place the tops (peppers) back on, and in 2 batches and cook until tender,
25 to 30 mins. Remove from the air-fryer, let sit on the counter for
10 to 15 mins. before eating.
Calories per serving- 300 (1 stuffed pepper) Prot-18g. Carbs-40g.
