Just say no…to unhealthy snacks!

Mom, (Dad) tired of your kids snacking on candy bars, pizza,
Oreos and baloney sandwiches (on white bread)?

Well, here are 5 good-for-you snacks that not only taste great,
but won’t fill your teens up with fat, sugar, salt and lots of calories.

The 5 Snacks-
a) Cinnamon-Apple Toasts!
Spread some peanut butter on a slice of multigrain or gluten-free
bread, sprinkle on a little cinnamon. Cut up an apple into very thin slices
and place on the toast, add a little maple syrup or dark honey
and broil in the oven or in a toaster oven until lightly browned.

b) Tex-Mex Pinwheels!
Spread 1 Tbs. jarred bean dip over a 10″ low-fat flour tortilla. Top with
2-3 thin slices of reduced Cheddar cheese. Roll up; cut into 1″ wide slices.

c) Stuffed Celery!
Fill 3″ long pieces of celery with a mixture of reduced fat cream cheese,
chopped dried cranberries (or raisins) and sunflower seeds.

d) Hummus Wedges!
Spread hummus over split sides of whole-grain sandwich thins.
Cut into wedges.
Top each wedge with a small spoonful of drained salsa.

e) Walnutty Trail Mix!
Toss cooled, toasted walnuts with low-cal granola, tiny pretzel twists
and dried cranberries and raisins in a large bowl.
