Sweet Christmas Beverage Treats For Adults and Furkids!
It’s unfortunate that eggnog is only served for about 4 weeks of the year.
It (eggnog) does have some beneficial ingredients, like the egg yolk, the cinnamon,
nutmeg and milk, and if you don’t have any issues regarding dairy, have a cup
(or two) from Thanksgiving to the New Year, (2022).
And for the animal lovers out there that want their dogs to experience the joy
of Christmas eggnog, you’re in luck.
A popular dog blogger, Sarah Lukewire, wanted to create a special holiday dessert
for the special loves in her life (her dogs) and this is what she came up with.
The Special Treat:
Doggie Eggnog!
To make:
In a blender, combine 2 containers of plain Greek yogurt, (Try Fage),
a jar of sweet potato baby food, brand to try: Gerber 1st Foods Sweet Potatoes,
buy a 4 oz. jar, (make sure to read the label, and buy the one without the seasonings),
and 1/4 cup of top quality water. Blend until frothy.
Pour into a clean jar and give your dogs a little each day. Refrigerate the rest.
And lastly, you can make this treat even better by pairing the doggie eggnog
with storebought treats like Gingerbread Buddy Biscuits. Place the biscuits in a bowl
along with the doggie eggnog.
And what about cats?
If your cat can tolerate yogurt and sweet potatoes, then give him (or her) a small
amount.
Or just wait, for our future post on Tuna cat treats for the holidays.
And for the adults, who need a special eggnog recipe, here’s one and this isn’t
just any eggnog, it’s eggnog that contains pumpkin and brandy and thanks to the
pumpkin in this, it’ll help keep your skin wrinkle-free and taut.
The Recipe:
Holly-Joy Pumpkin Nog!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups of eggnog
1/2 cup of pumpkin spice coffee creamer, (try Bailey’s)
1/2 cup of pumpkin puree*
1/4 tsp. of cinnamon
2 oz. of Brandy
To make:
In a heatproof pitcher, combine the first 4 ingredients, Microwave 3 mins.
Add the brandy. Top with whipped cream, (if desired). Let cool down a bit
before drinking.
Enough for 2 servings.
* Pumpkin Puree- If you’re a fan of canned pumpkin, head to stores like
Walmart, Aldi, Publix, Kroger’s, B.J.’s, Costco, and Trader Joe’s and stock
up as these stores are trying to get rid of their excess stock.
Good Luck, Good Eating, and Good Health!
