You’re probably well aware of the foods that contain fiber, you know-
foods like beans, fruits and vegetables with the peels on, but are you
aware of the foods that are considered “super-fiber?”

A super-fiber food is one that contains compounds called resistant
starch and this type of starch slowly digests, feeds the good bacteria
in the gut that help heal GI woes while also speeding your metabolism
and boosting health from head to toe.

The “Super-Fiber” Foods-
a) Potatoes-
Not just any potatoes, but potatoes that have been baked or boiled,
cooled, refrigerated and then eaten the next day. Cooking and then
cooling in the refrigerator triples the levels of resistant starch.
And another tip: This cooking and cooling tip also works for rice and pasta.

b) Beans-
As mentioned earlier, beans can give you ample amounts of fiber, but if you
want a bean that’s a real “super-fiber” then you should be eating kidney beans.
They’re packed with the most resistant starch.

c) Fruit-
A peach. plum, apple or pear with the peel is a great way to get your fiber,
but for a fruit that has the most resistant starch, you’ll need to buy green
bananas and eat them. Bananas are a good source of fiber, but the fruit
loses a lot of its resistant starch during ripening, when it’s replaced with
simple sugars. Not sure you can eat green bananas? Add them to
fruit or vegetable stir-fries or a smoothie.

d) Morning or Evening Meal-
If oatmeal is your go-to breakfast, you may want to stop cooking it and
have overnight oats instead, why? Grains like oats and barley are rich in
resistant starch, but cooking them causes them to become a regular
fiber food and not a “super-fiber” food. The simple way to change this:
Pour some oatmeal into a bowl, add 1/2 cup of plain yogurt or milk
and refrigerate for 12 hours. You can also make this in the morning
and eat it about 8 or 9pm.
