Plan on serving pie this Thanksgiving?
And what will you do if there are any leftover pies?

Not sure?
Well, how about a “Pie Buffet?”
A pie buffet?
Yes, set up a pie buffet as you would any other type of buffet, (sandwiches,
or burger and fries) and make a day of it.

Still not sure how to pull this off?
No problem, just look below for all of the things you need to make your “pie
buffet” a success.

Step 1-
Time It Right!
Set it for Thanksgiving or the day after Thanksgiving or on Saturday or Sunday.
Invite friends, family and those who weren’t able to make it on Thanksgiving.

Step 2-
Make or Buy Your Pies!
If you have 3 to 5 pies from Thanksgiving, great, use those, if not, buy 2 or 3
from your local bakery. Not willing to spend money? Make 2 or 3 and
you may want to stick to fall flavored pies like pumpkin and apple.
And if you’re into new adventures- why not try a “Piecaken” it’s a pie baked
right into a cake. Not sure how to find one? No problem, go online to
WideOpenEats.com/piecaken for the recipe.

Step 3-
Set Up Your Pie Buffet!
Set up a long table or use a long counter and set out plates, napkins and
plenty of cutlery. Then arrange your prettiest serving pieces, mixing taller
cake stands and tiered servers with trays for a variety of heights.
Encourage guests to dig in by cutting a few slices from each pie, making
them small so it’s easy to sample various flavors. At the end of the table,
arrange toppings such as…
* Crushed Cookies-
Crush gingersnaps, pralines or vanilla wafers for anyone who loves something crunchy
on their pies.
* Serve Ice Cream- In addition to the usual vanilla, offer coffee Ice cream, which offsets
the sweetness of pecan pie and dulce de leche or salted caramel ice cream, which
is quite delicious with apple pie.
* Chocolate-
If you have any “chocoholics” put out some mini chocolate chips or choc. curls.
* Spices-
Leave out a few fall spices like cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Guests can sprinkle
their favorite spices onto their pie or into their coffee or tea.
* Whipped Cream-
Plain whipped cream is a must, but for this special occasion, offer rum-flavored
whipped cream. To make: Beat 1 cup of heavy cream with 4 Tbs. of sugar and 1
Tbs.of dark rum until stiff peaks form. Or try the same Baileys or Frangelico.

Step 4-
Serve Coffee and Tea!
As well as egg nog or hot chocolate for younger attendees.
Brew a pot of coffee or keep a pot of water (hot) on the stove for tea.

Step 5-
Send Guests Home With!
No need to keep all of those pies and extra calories at your house.
Use plastic containers or triangle-shaped pie slice boxes (available
at crafts stores and on Etsy). to pack up extra helpings- if there’s anything
left.

Step 6-
Use Any Dessert!
One last tip: If you want to get rid of cookies, muffins or cakes, feel free to place them
on the buffet table as well.

That’s it, your guide for those leftover pies (and other desserts).

Good Luck, Good Eating and Good Health!
