The Healing Power of Rolled Oat Smoothies!

If you’re tired of the same old bowl of oatmeal, do like former T.V. chef Emeril
Lagasse and “kick them up a notch!”

How?
By making smoothies that contain peanut butter, avocados and mangos.
And in addition to the recipes, you’ll also learn why oats can deliver
all-day health benefits.

Smoothie recipe no. 1-
Peanut Butter Chocolate Blast!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of rolled oats
1 cup of milk (almond, skim or coconut)
1/2 cup of vanilla yogurt
1/2 banana
2 Tbs. of peanut butter
2 Tbs. of cocoa powder
To make:
In a blender, puree all the ingredients until smooth.
Want it colder? Add a few ice cubes to it, and garnish it
with some banana slices and a tsp. of cocoa powder.
Health benefits of this smoothie: Optimize thyroid health.
Oats are a rich source of manganese, a mineral that revs the
thyroid’s output of metabolism-boosting hormones. People who
eat oatmeal a few times a week burn an extra 100 calories a day.
(About 10 pounds in a year).
And the banana: It’s loaded with potassium, a mineral that washes
sodium out of your body to help lower blood pressure.

Smoothie recipe no. 2-
Tropical Mango Lime Tango!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of rolled oats
1/2 cup of diced mango, (frozen or fresh)*
1 1/2 cups of coconut milk
1 lime, the juice and some of the peel (make sure to clean the peel)
* Look for fresh mangoes on sale at Aldi or Trader Joe’s in your area.
Need to soften them? Place in a paper bag for 2 or 3 days.
Also works for avocados.
To make:
In a blender or juicer, puree all ingredients until smooth. Garnish with a
mint leaf and a slice of mango (on a toothpick)
Health benefits of this smoothie: Boost Immune Levels.
Need to stay cold and flu free during the Winter?
Add some rolled oats to your daily menus to achieve it.
Oats contain beta-glucan, which stimulates the production of white
blood cells, improving the body’s ability to fend off illness-causing
bacteria and viruses by 75%.
And the mangoes: Contains compounds that relieve stomach bloat.

Smoothie recipe no. 3-
Avocado-Apple Surprise!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of rolled oats
1 avocado, peeled and diced
1 apple, Delicious or Gala- peeled and cut up
1 1/2 cups of almond milk
To make:
In a blender, puree all ingredients until smooth.
Want it colder? Add a few ice cubes.
Garnish with a mint leaf and slice (or two) of avocado.
Health benefits of this smoothie: Shuts down your appetite.
Oats are full of fiber and that fiber triggers the stomach to release
the hunger-suppressing hormone (cholecystokinin). If you’re a snacker
and want to control it, eat some rolled oats.
And the avocado: It helps improve focus by 40%.

That’s it, 3 smoothies for breakfast or dinner to improve your health.
