Quick and Easy Treats For The Holidays!
You want to serve snacks, (appetizers) for your party, get together or Christmas dinner
and need something other than pigs-in-a-blanket, mozzarella bites or potato chips,
here are 3 ideas that are delicious, easy to make and taste incredibly delicious.
The Recipes For 3 Festive Appetizers.
a) Cran-Ricotta Crostinis-
Use store bought crostinis and save time.
To make:
Cut a demi baguette into 20 slices; arrange on a baking
sheet. Bake at 400*F, flipping until golden, 2 mins. per side.
Top each crostini with 2 Tbs. of ricotta and 1 Tbs. of cranberry relish.
Garnish with rosemary sprigs and orange zest.
b) Sausage Sesame Bites!
Add some honey at the end and you have an appetizer that’s sweet and savory.
To make:
Mix 1/2 lb. cooked, crumbled sausage, 1/4 cup of brown sugar
and 2 Tbs. of mustard. Cut 1 puff pastry sheet into thirds.
Spread filling over; starting at long sides, roll into logs.
Cut into 1″ pieces. Brush with egg; top with 1 Tbs. of sesame seeds.
Bake at 375*F for 20 mins.
c) Jalapeno Poppers!
For those who love heat, serve them these appetizers.
To make:
In a bowl, mix 1/4 cup chopped dill and 2 (8 oz.) packages of
cream cheese; scoop and roll into 16 balls and freeze until firm.
In another bowl, mix 1 chopped, seeded jalapeno, 2 minced scallions,
1/2 cup of bacon bits and 1/2 tsp. of garlic powder. Roll balls in
mixture; add pretzel sticks.
Important tip:
For those who can’t take the heat- make a separate batch with green chilies.
