As one gets older, is protein, carbs or fats more important?
Not sure, read this article for more info.

Are you a man or woman that’s 50 or older?
Well, if you are, then make sure you’re getting enough protein.

That’s right- it’s something that a lot of health professionals are
now talking about and if you’re not sure how much, just continue
reading for more details.

Why and how much protein should people over 50 get?

Why is protein important at this age?
It (protein) helps support the growth and maintenance of our
body’s tissues and muscles, and it plays a role in managing appetite
by keeping us feeling full.

How much protein should a person over 50 get?
One simple trick that doctors recommend is dividing your weight
in pounds in half and that’s the amount you should aim to eat.
This isn’t an exact science, but it provides a terrific reference.

So, if you weigh 130 pounds, aim for 65 grams of protein
each day and if you weigh 190 pounds, aim for 95 grams of protein
each day.

Not sure how to calculate the amount of protein in a 6 oz. burger
or three eggs? Just go to google.com and type certain protein foods
and how many grams of protein are in these specific foods into the
search bar.
An example: A breakfast of 2 eggs and 1/4 cup of cottage cheese
contains 20 grams of protein.

More food choices that are considered good sources of protein:
Lean beef, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese, Greek yogurt,
cow’s milk, beans, nuts, seeds, lentils, and soy.
And for vegetable lovers-get protein from broccoli, yellow corn,
peas, Brussels sprouts, spinach and asparagus.

And for those who have small appetites, get a good-quality protein powder.

And more important tips:
If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding or a serious athlete you may need
more protein and if you suffer with any kidney problems, you may
not need as much.
It’s best you talk to your health-care provider about the amounts
you should be getting each day.
