Kitchen Hacks Using Kitchen Appliances!
Reduce your time in the Kitchen this Summer by using your appliances.
If you hate spending lots of time in the kitchen break out your countertop
gadgets and fry, steam and fast-cook certain dishes.
What type of dishes?
Look below for the appliance and the particular food.
1) Microwave!
If you only use your microwave to heat up water (for coffee or tea)
or heat up leftover pizza it’s time to up your game and by upping
your game we mean cooking cabbage.
Cabbage?
Yes, cabbage rolls to be exact. Preparing and then baking them can
be messy, so avoid the mess by microwaving them.
To do:
Microwave 12 cabbage leaves and 1/2 cup of water (covered) 1 min.
In food processor, pulse 8 oz. of mushrooms, 1 Tbs. of mustard,
2 garlic cloves and 1/4 tsp.of salt; top cabbage leaves.
Roll up; transfer to a plate. Top with tomato sauce.
Microwave for 3 to 4 mins. and as soon as you take them out,
add some shredded cheddar or Parmesan cheese, (optional).
Enough for 4 servings.
2) Pressure Cooker!
As more people cut down on or cut out entirely the amount of carbs
they eat, spaghetti squash is a healthy-low calorie alternative
and if you want to avoid the 30 to 40 minutes of cooking it in the
oven, then get out your pressure cooker.
To make:
Add rack to bottom of pressure cooker; add 1 cup of water. Place 1
half of a seeded spaghetti squash in the cooker. Cook on high pressure
for 15 mins. remove. Shred strands with fork, place in a bowl or plate
and top with sauce, cheese and seasonings.
Enough for 4 servings.
3) Air-Fryer!
Another vegetable that’s being used by the diet and health conscious
and if you want to give it some extra crispiness and taste use your
air fryer.
To make:
Heat up the air fryer to 400*F. Cut 1 head of cauliflower into florets;
toss with 1 tsp. each of olive oil and garlic powder and 1/2 tsp. of each
onion powder, paprika and salt. Air-fry for 15 mins.
Enough for 4 servings.
