Don’t let Inflation prevent you from buying a turkey with all of the trimming this year.

You’re probably already aware that this year’s Thanksgiving dinner will be 20 to 25% more
and if you plan on skipping the big meal because of the cost, hold on, and read this first.
Listed below are some great tips on ways to slash some of the costs without sacrificing
on the fun or tradition of a big meal.

Tip No. 1-
Look Into Takeout-
No, you don’t have to order pizza or Chinese food, the takeout we’re talking about
is from Cracker Barrel, Boston Market or Denny’s.
Allowing one of these restaurant chains to do the work can cost about $60.00 or less.
For this price you can get sliced turkey and all of the trimmings for a family of four.
And if you want dessert, add another $10.00.
So, if you want to skip all of the cooking and cleaning up after, then you may want to
contact the above-mentioned restaurants, compare prices and then order.
Another tip: A lot of supermarkets have gotten into the holiday cooking game,
so when you do your regular shopping, head to the deli and bakery section and ask
some questions.

Tip No. 2-
Saving Big On The Turkey-
It may cost you a whole lot more to purchase a turkey this year and if you’re
not comfortable spending a small fortune on turkey, you may want to buy parts.
Buy parts?
Yes it may sound silly, but it makes perfect sense. Buy a turkey breast,
a few turkey legs and wings and save money. Another option: Buy Cornish
hens. Each Cornish hen costs about $6 and if there are four people at the table,
you’re only spending $12. The cooking and cleanup will also be much easier.
But, if you’re concerned with the aesthetics, (the appearance) and having
turkey parts or Cornish hens won’t look right, then go ahead and buy a turkey.

Tip No. 3-
Drink For Less-
Plan on buying wine this year? Well, like everything else a bottle of wine has gone up
considerably, so a better option: buying boxed wine. For $20 or less you can get
some good bargains. Not sure you’re going to like the taste? Try mulling it.
To do: Pour the wine into a slow cooker, add 1/4 cup of honey, sliced oranges,
cranberries, cinnamon sticks and cloves and let it simmer on low for an hour or two.
Boxed wine to try: Bota Boxed Wine.

Tip No. 4-
Save Big On Table Settings-
Another big expense: Table settings. Don’t spend big money on a fancy
tablecloth or centerpieces. Instead, use a copper-colored window panel,
(find it at Walmart) and for the centerpieces-use pumpkins.
Find a farm or store that’s selling them for half-price, bring them home,
hollow them out and then fill them with fallen leaves and pine cones.

Tip No. 5-
Sweet Prices For The Sweets-
We mentioned in the first tip that you can get a whole dinner and dessert for
$60.00, but if you don’t want a whole pie or cake, then you should buy cookies.
Cookies?
Yes cookies, for those who may not want a calorie-rich slice of pie or cake,
a few cookies with that cup of tea or coffee makes perfect sense.
And if you want to make the cookies stand out, set a section on the counter
or set up a cart (in the dining or living room) and place some mugs, packets
of hot chocolate, eggnog, tea bags, instant coffee and cookies on it.
Another tip: Head to your local dollar store and buy some marshmallows,
peppermint sticks, whipped cream and sprinkles, place them on the counter-top
or dessert bar and let guests make their own hot beverages and cookie desserts.
