A recipe to keep you  cold and flu-free.
You go to the stores, the post office and
to the relatives. Spending more times indoors
during the Winter months makes you 3 times
more likely to catch a cold or the flu.


To counter the viruses that are more contagious
in the colder months you must eat foods that
will keep your immune system in tip-top
shape.


What types of foods:
garlic
onions
dark green vegetables
carrots
sweet potatoes
fish
cayenne pepper
lean pork
turmeric
lemons
oranges

 

And to get you started on your road to 
building your immune system,
here’s a snack that not only tastes
great, but it’s great for your health as well.

The immunity-boosting dish: Hummus With Garlic!

The ingredients:
1 large head of garlic
5 Tbs. good quality olive oil
1 can of chickpeas (rinsed and drained)
1/4 cup of tahini*
1 lemon, juiced
1 tsp. cumin
1 tsp. salt

* tahini- look for tahini in the International
food aisle of your supermarket or
Asian food market.

To make:

Heat oven to 400F. Cut off top 1/4 of the garlic;
(if your oven cooks fast, make sure you
keep an eye on the garlic).
drizzle top with the oil. Wrap in foil.
Roast one hour. Remove foil, allow to cool.
Now, just squeeze out the garlic cloves into
into a blender or food processor. Add
remaining ingredients, puree until smooth.
Serve with healthy crackers, spread on top of
gluten-free bread or crudites.
