Cleanup Tips For The Holidays!
If you dread the holidays because of all the cleaning that’s involved,
relax and use these 3 tips to make it (cleaning) a whole lot easier.
a) Pots and Pans-
Cleaning pots and pans after the big meal can take a lot of time,
to make it (cleanup) easier, fill the bathtub halfway with hot water,
a 1/4 cup of dish detergent and a cup of baking soda. Just stash
larger cooking items in the tub -and baked on crud and gunk will
come right off, making them easy to clean.
b) The Silverware-
If you plan on bringing out the “good” sliverware this year, you may
want to clean it up first and to do that, fill a bowl with ketchup and
drop the silverware in. The acids in the tomatoes will break down
food particles and polish the silver. Rinse and wipe dry with a clean
cloth and it (the silverware) should be shimmering and shiny.
Important tip:
If your silverware is too delicate for the dishwasher, this tip is especially
important.
c) Stained Linen-
Another problem on Thanksgiving and Christmas: stains on your good linen.
From grease, to gravy to wine, keeping linen clean can be quite a chore and
to make this chore easier, bring out the salt. Salt works as a “pre-treater”
for your tablecloth. Simply soak linens in a bin or sink filled with 1 cup of salt
to 3 cups of water before placing it in the wash, and hopefully, the stains
should come out, making the linen look like you just took it out of the package.
