If your kids are addicted to tater tots you’re not alone.
Tater tots might be up there with pizza, French fries, hotdogs and burgers
as the favorite foods of kids ages 6 to 17 and if you’re concerned about the
calories in them (tater tots) you’re in luck.

Listed below, are 2 recipes for healthier versions of tater tots and a sauce (or dressing)
for tater tots. The recipes are from 2 celebrities.

Recipe No. 1-
Valerie’s Lower Calorie Tater Tots!
Actress Valerie Bertinelli is also concerned about the unhealthiness and high
calorie counts of certain foods, so she’s dedicated herself to finding healthier
alternatives to some of America’s favorite foods and here’s her version of the
American favor-tater tots.
To make:
In a bowl, mix 1 bag of thawed shredded hash browns, 1 head of grated cauliflower,
1 egg and 1/2 cup of flour; season with salt, pepper and other spices you prefer.
Form into 2″ cylinders; arrange on a greased baking sheet.
Bake at 425*F. for 25 mins. or until golden brown.
Calories cut: 235 Carb grams cut: 15, Fat grams cut 19
Ms. Bertinelli uses cauliflower, along with potatoes and if you’re trying to get your
kids to eat more veggies, mixing them into other vegetables (and meats) is a great
option. She also bakes them, as opposed to frying them which really lowers the
calorie count.

Now onto recipe No. 2, which is a creamy dressing that can be used to
dress up tater tots, steamed veggies, cut up fresh veggies, fish and
even chicken wings.
Laila’s Creamy Reduced Ranch Dressing!
This recipe is from boxing great Muhammad Ali’s daughter Laila,
who came up with a “dairy-free” dressing that didn’t give her
stomach bloat.
To make:
Soak 2 cups of raw cashews in water for 3 hrs. Drain and in a blender,
add the nuts, 1 1/4 cups of water and 1 tsp. of each-onion powder,
celery seed, and dill. Blend until smooth. Pour into a jar (Mason)
and store the jar in the refrigerator.
Calories cut: 85 Fat grams cut: 15
And lastly, if you or your kids have bad reactions to dairy, you can rejoice
as this dressing is made with nuts, spices and water and not dairy.
