A Non-Meat Sandwich For Better Health!
If you’re tired of turning on the stove to cook big meals, leave it (the stove off)
and just have a healthy sandwich.
A healthy sandwich?
Yes, a vegetarian sandwich.
The following sandwich is a low-calorie, meatless, and full of heart
healthy protein meal that can be made in a few minutes.
The Sandwich:
A Veggie & Hummus Sandwich!
Ingredients:
2 slices of good quality bread (Sourdough or Sprouted)
3 Tbs. of Hummus (buy store-bought hummus) or make your own
1/2 avocado (ripe)
1 Tbs. of mustard (spicy or plain) optional
salad greens
1 bell pepper (any color) cut into thin strips
1/4 cup of sliced cucumbers
Shredded carrots
Dressing (homemade or store-bought low-cal dressing or vinaigrette)
To make:
Leave the bread as is or toast it. Place the bread on a plate
and spread with the avocado and mustard combo.
Spread on some hummus, some salad greens, bell pepper,
the cucumber and then pour on a small amount of salad dressing.
That’s it, a heart-healthy and high protein sandwich that only took
a few minutes to make.
And one more tip: If you’re not a fan of salad greens or cucumbers,
add the veggies you prefer.
