Spice Up Your Condiments For Valentine’s Day!
If you and your significant other are planning to stay home and cook a special
meal this Valentine’s day, you may want to add a little something to it to
really make it “special.”
That’s right, instead of serving shrimp, chicken or cheese plainly, (without
any type of gravy or sauce), you may want to get in on the hot new craze
called “Swicy.”
What is that, you ask?
It’s making a condiment sweet and spicy and if you’re serving chicken,
a cheese platter or shrimp, then we have the secret recipes to take these
dishes to next level tasty and delicious.
First up,
* A Swicy Dipping Sauce-
Chipotle Ketchup.
America’s favorite condiment is Ketchup and if you plan on serving
roasted vegetables, fries or shrimp, this is the dipping sauce that”ll
have your significant other going back for seconds and thirds.
To make:
Saute 1/2 onion, (diced) in 2 tsp. of oil for a few minutes. Add 1 cup
of tomato paste, 1 1/2 tsp. of chili paste, 1 Tbs. of agave, 1 tsp. of vinegar,
1/2 tsp. of cumin; cook for 4 to 5 mins. in a medium-sized saucepan.
Remove from the heat, let cool for 10 to 15 mins. and puree in a blender.
Store in an 8 oz. jar. Place in the refrigerator, use it up in a week or two.
* A Swicy Jam-
Red Pepper Jam.
If you plan on serving roasted pork, chicken or ham, this is the jam
that’ll really make it taste exceptional.
To make:
In a medium sized pot, bring 1 cup red diced peppers, 1/4 cup of sugar,
1/4 cup of cider vinegar, 1 Tbs. of diced chile pepper and 1 tsp. of fruit
pectin to a boil; reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes, remove
from the heat and let it cool down. Store in an 8 oz. jar for up to 10 to
14 days.
* A Swicy Honey-
Hot Honey.
Do you plan on keeping your Valentine’s simple and low budget? Well, if
pizza, fried chicken and biscuits are on the menu, then you may want to
make them taste gourmet with this special hot honey recipe.
To make:
In a pot, heat 1 cup of honey, 2 tsp. of cider vinegar and 1/4 cup of red pepper
flakes over medium heat; cook for 3 mins. Remove from heat for 15 to 20 mins.
Strain into a jar and seal it up. Store in a cabinet or on your counter, it should
keep for 3 months.
