In the past, we’ve written a post or two about the health benefits you can get
from Farmers’ market produce.
One post: Eating more cooked tomatoes to ward off skin cancer, yes, natural
sunscreen.

Well today, it’s all about hair care.
Use 3 fruits and you can tackle the problems most associated with Summer hair care,
you know dandruff, the frizzies and dry and brittle hair.
Look below and find the hair care malady affecting you and then the Farmers’
market Rx.

a) Dandruff-
Summer increases perspiration, especially on the scalp and the fruit to help
alleviate the white flakes are bananas.
Bananas contain antimicrobial agents and these agents kill the fungus that
cause the unsightly white flakes.
The recipe for a banana mask- Mix 1 ripe mashed banana and 1/4 cup of sugar.
Step into the shower, sit on the edge of the tub and apply the mask to your scalp.
Work the mask into the scalp, leave on for 3 to 5 mins. and then rinse off with
lukewarm water.

b) Taming The Frizzies-
High humidity is causing your hair to turn frizzy. Plus, parched, thirsty locks
have raised cuticles, which moisture in the air easily penetrates-an overabundance
of which causes hair to swell. The remedy: Avocados. Avocados contain fatty acids
that hydrate your hair.
The recipe for an avocado mask- Mix half an avocado and 1 Tbs. of olive oil.
In the bathroom, sit on the edge of the tub and apply the mask to damp hair.
Massage it into the scalp and leave on for 5 to 10 mins.
Rinse your hair with lukewarm water.

c) Dry & Brittle Hair-
The hot sun and chlorine from a pool cause the dry and brittle hair and
to help mend this condition buy blueberries.
Blueberries contain vitamin E and C which repair the damage (from the sun
and chlorine) and the honey-rehydrates the hair.
The recipe for this mask- Mix 1/4 cup of mashed blueberries with 1 Tbs. of
honey. Again, head to the bathroom and apply this mask to your damp scalp,
from roots to ends; leave on for 15 to 20 mins. Rinse this mask out with lukewarm
water.

That’s it- 3 tips to help mend Summer-damaged hair.
