The Saving Rxs For Ordering Take Out!
Have you been ordering a lot of take out due to the Pandemic?
Is it becoming more expensive to do so?
Well, if you’re wallet is taking a beating and you want some tips on how
to cut those costs, you’re in luck.
Listed below are some tips from money-saving experts.
The Tips:
a) Get Something For Free-
Want free food? Look at your receipts. Many restaurants value customer feedback,
but a lot of people weren’t responding, so they decided to offer free food in exchange
for your opinions. If you order from McDonald’s, Panda Express or Dunkin Donuts make
sure to look closely at the back of your receipt and hopefully, score a free meal.
b) Check The Store’s Website-
Many supermarkets are now offering restaurant type meals, Chinese meals, Mexican
meals and even Fried chicken dinners for less than $10 per person.
And today, some stores are now offering curbside pickup at no additional cost.
To see if your local supermarket is offering this type of service, check their website.
c) Look For Discounts-
Many restaurants now offer customer deals exclusively through their apps. Order your
takeout meal that way, and you can rack up points on orders earning free meals, desserts
or sides. Chipotle offers app users $1 delivery, and Chick-fil-A has given app users free
breakfast entrees. Just download your favorite restaurant’s app to see what they’re offering.
d) Use Your Cards-
Credit cards. Using a credit card (like Capital One Savor One Rewards or the Chase Freedom
Unlimited–both pay an unlimited 3% cash back on dining purchases) on a $35 take-out order
would put $1.05 back into your wallet. Have an American Express Card? Go to their site-
AmericanExpress.com and search “shop small” to find take-out places where just by using
your Amex card you’ll net up to 4 times the points, earning you up to $220 in statement
credits.
e) Buy More-
To pay less. When ordering look for “family meals” options. For example, Texas Roadhouse
offers a family burger that includes 12 mini-burgers, a huge salad and your choice of 3 sides
for about $25. To find a restaurant that offers these deals near you, just type family meal and
the name of your city in an internet search engine.
f) Order Lunch At This Time-
You may know all about the insider tip of ordering a lunch special for dinner, which can save
you up to 50% off per entree, but it can be a hassle to heat up the meal later. The insider
tip: Pay close attention to the lunch ordering window-often by ordering online you can
order right up until the cutoff time. So, if you want dinner on the table by 5:00 pm,
make sure you pick a restaurant that offers specials right up until 3:00 pm.
g) Get a Subscription-
If you order out a lot, you may want to get a subscription to Grubhub, UberEats or other
services. Why? Grubhub might cost you $6 in delivery fees for one order, but with its
subscription service, Grubhub+ you’ll get unlimited free delivery for $10 a month–order
twice in one month and it pays for itself. UberEats charges a $5 delivery fee (plus a $4
service fee) for a take-out order, but a $10 per-month Eats Pass gets free delivery and
a %5 discount on any order over $15-which is quite a deal if you order more than twice
a month.
h) Really Use Your Apps-
In other words, if you use cash-back apps for online shopping, you may not be aware
that you can also use those apps on food orders. For example: Rakuten offers 11%
cash back on Grubhub orders and $4 cash back on UberEats. Or go online to Grubhub
or Seamless through IBotta to net 2% cash back with delivery. Simply download
the sites’ apps to your mobile phone or the browsers on your home computer.
